The bag runs out faster every month. The eggs don't.
“So what do these chickens cost us?” My wife asked me that over a feed receipt. I'd been saying “nothing” for five years. If any of this sounds like you:
- I don't even know what my chickens cost me.
- Every time I cut back on feed, the eggs stop.
- I tried scraps. The basket went light in a week.
- We don't make enough scraps for a whole flock.
None of that is your fault.
Somewhere along the way we all learned that chicken feed comes in a bag. It doesn't have to. My grandfather fed thirty-some hens for forty years, most of them without buying a bag. He made what they ate, right on the place.
The fix
The Lost Feed Method shows you how to make half your flock's feed yourself.
From a jar, a pot, a garden bed and the neighbors. The other half stays pellets, so the eggs keep coming.
And if you're one more bag away from giving the hens to a neighbor, I wrote the first chapter for you.
See the six stepsSix steps. One a week.
In my grandfather's order. The first one costs nothing.
The Jar
The bag you already buy lasts longer. Costs nothing.
The Tray
Green feed in the dead of winter, from a handful of grain.
The Pot
Split peas and beans replace a quarter of the pellets.
The Bed
Plant it once. Greens every year it's in the ground.
The Bin
Free protein that climbs into the bucket on its own.
The Neighbors
Feed other people throw out, handed to you.
Then a year of running it, and exactly what to do the week the eggs drop.

Starting the night you open the kit.
- Tonight
You finally know your number.
Ten minutes at the kitchen table. What the flock costs you a month, a year, and per hen per week. The number the feed store will never hand you.
- Week 19 dayslonger from one bag
The bag lasts longer.
Same feed, same hens, soaked in a jar. It's the first bag in years that feels like it's working for you instead of the other way around.

The number moves.
You fill the second column and it's smaller. A fifth to a quarter off, without cutting what keeps them laying.
- Summer$33 savedevery summer month · $56 to $23
Half.
The bed and the bin carry the day. The feed store stops being a bill you dread and goes back to being a place you stop by.

You keep the flock.
Winter still costs more. But you're not standing in the cold wondering whether to give the hens away. You know your number, and you know exactly what to do about it.
Now run your own number
The whole kit is $17, once.
Worked out on the book's own ladder: a fifth to a quarter in 30 days, half in the warm months, a third over the year. Your year will have its own numbers.
Every week you wait is another bag at full price.

Questions before you start
Will it really cut my feed bill in half?
By summer, yes. Expect a fifth to a quarter off in the first 30 days, half in the warm months, and about a third over the whole year.
Will my hens stop laying?
Not from the feed. Half the day stays pellets, so they keep everything a laying hen needs. The book also covers what feed can't fix: daylight, the molt and age.
Does it work for a small flock without many scraps?
Yes. Batches are sized for 6, 12 and 25 hens, and most of the method isn't kitchen scraps at all. It's the jar, the pot, the garden bed and the neighbors.
I'm new to chickens. Is this too advanced?
No. One step a week, in order, and every chapter ends with one thing to do that night.
Isn't all this free on YouTube?
The ideas are. The amounts, the order and the two rules that keep the eggs coming aren't. That's what this book gives you.
Do I need to buy equipment?
No. The first step costs nothing: a jar and the feed you already have. The Half-Feed List marks what you probably already own.
What exactly do I get?
Ten files: the 151-page book, the sheets, the cards, the ledger and a calculator. PDFs for your phone, tablet or printer. One payment, instant download, no subscription.
Why only $17?
It's the launch price for the first readers. After that the kit is $27.
What if it's not for me?
Reply to your receipt email within 14 days and you get your $17 back. No reason needed.
